2010 Wed 12th May first view: codename Marmot

Posted by System Monitor

Today, I just want to introduce codename Marmot technology preview to you. Now, you may ask what codename Marmot is. Codename Marmot is the next generation of System Monitor. The System Monitor 3 platform is working well and stable now (yeah, it took some time to reach this state), but it's to inflexible, slow and uses far too much resources. System Monitor 3.6 already provided a hugh performance improvement, but that's not good enough. Unfortunately, I don't see any potential to improve the performance of the System Monitor 3 platform in future versions, so it is time to start something new. Codename Marmot won't base on System Monitor 3 platform, it's a complete rewrite, a complete new patform, running independe from Sidebar as stand-alone application. If you want to have a look at the improvements and/or want to help to enhance the final version (e.g. find bugs or other specific problems), then you're invited to participate in codename Marmot technology preview program.
